What is Nav ex?
Navigation exercise
A nav ex (navigation exercise) is a cross-country training flight where the student plans and flies a route between aerodromes.
A navigation exercise is a training flight that takes the student away from the home aerodrome to practise route planning, map reading, use of navigation aids, and diversions. Nav exes are a core part of the PPL syllabus, building towards the qualifying cross-country flight.
They bring together weather planning, NOTAM checks and airmanship in a single flight.
